Anthropic, OpenAI and Google Reportedly in Talks to Create AI Standards Body

Anthropic, OpenAI and Google have been in talks to jointly establish an AI industry standards body, according to people familiar with the matter. The discussions were already underway before Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei on Saturday called on AI companies to coordinate on technical testing and review, the report said.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said at an all-hands meeting that he supports the creation of a testing and review institution for the AI industry. He also argued that major AI labs must establish a standards body on their own in the absence of U.S. government support.

Working group meetings among the three companies around the industry-led standards body are still ongoing, according to the report.
