World's First Brain-Inspired Cognitive World Model and Technical Whitepaper Released in Shanghai

By AI123

On September 14, the 2026 Pujiang Innovation Forum's sub-forum on brain-inspired embodied intelligence was held at Changyang Innovation Park in Yangpu District, Shanghai. During the forum, JuNao Panshi, a company focused on brain-inspired embodied intelligence, unveiled Cog-WM1.0, described as the world's first brain-inspired cognitive world model. The Brain-Inspired Intelligence Industry Innovation and Development Alliance also released the world's first technical whitepaper on the brain-inspired cognitive world model.

Cog-WM1.0 is built on a unified architecture driven by brain-inspired JEPA latent-space prediction, drawing on human cognitive neural mechanisms. According to the developer, the model is designed to enable robots to perform active exploration, semantic navigation and manipulation tasks in unfamiliar environments without pre-built maps or large amounts of data, offering a new technical path toward embodied intelligence with higher generalization comparable to the human brain. JuNao Panshi was established in June 2025, and its team includes experts from companies and institutions such as Huawei, Lenovo, Megvii, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Tsinghua University.

The whitepaper was jointly compiled by the alliance with research institutions including Fudan University, the Institute of Biophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the University of Science and Technology of China, and the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute of Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center, as well as companies including JuNao Panshi and ZhiNao Gongchang. It incorporates academic research and industry practice, underwent multiple rounds of expert review, and aims to build industry consensus, clarify technology development paths, and provide reference for policy-making, technology development, industrial planning and investment decisions.

The forum was organized by JuNao Panshi, the alliance and the Shanghai Brain-Inspired Intelligence Future Industry Cluster, and was described as the first brain-inspired embodied intelligence forum in China and globally. It brought together experts and enterprises from Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen and other industry hubs, covering brain-inspired embodied intelligence algorithms, brain-inspired computing chips and the broader industry chain. Brain-inspired intelligence has been included in China's 15th Five-Year Plan as a key future industry direction.
