Bill Gates Warns AI-Powered Cyberattacks Will Escalate in Coming Year

On Oct. 12, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates warned about the growing threat of unregulated artificial intelligence, predicting that cyberattacks powered by AI will further escalate in the coming year.

Gates said that the risk of AI spiraling out of control may still take years to become a major problem. The more immediate concern, he argued, is that bad actors could exploit existing AI systems to launch attacks without adequate safeguards. He called for stronger regulation to prevent AI from being used in bioterrorism and cyberattacks.
