Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang Unveils $2B Europe Investment Plan, Pushes Open-Source AI

By AI123

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said at an event in Paris on Tuesday that the company will announce more than $2 billion in European investments over the coming week, adding to $8 billion already invested in the region over the past year.

Huang also announced new funding for French startups Doctolib, Genesis AI, Pigment, and Entalpic, which operate in healthcare, robotics AI, business software, and chemistry and materials, respectively. He is scheduled to visit London and Berlin after Paris.

Speaking amid growing public skepticism toward AI in Europe, Huang pushed back against calls to slow AI development, arguing that AI will boost economies and can be advanced safely. He urged Europe to participate in the AI race and promoted open-source models as a lower-cost, more adaptable path that could help narrow the gap with U.S. AI capabilities.

Huang emphasized the importance of open models, saying they can be customized for different languages and sovereignty needs. He reiterated his expectation that physical AI, including humanoid robots, will become Nvidia's next major market.
