Meta's AI-powered 'Your Algorithm' arrives on Facebook, letting users steer recommendations in natural language

By AI123

Meta announced on October 13 that its AI-powered "Your Algorithm" feature is now rolling out on Facebook. The tool, which previously launched on Instagram, lets users describe their preferences in natural language to influence recommendations across Feed and Reels. Meta said the feature is designed to make content recommendations more relevant, with changes reflected in real time.

Facebook's three-dot menu has also been updated, allowing users to manage content preferences directly from individual posts. From the menu, users can open "Your Algorithm" or select "Interested" and "Not interested" to indicate whether specific content matches their preferences. Meta said the platform may ask follow-up questions to better understand what users liked or disliked, giving them a way to explain what they want to see more or less of.

The launch is part of Meta's broader effort to give users more control over their social media experience as AI increasingly shapes content discovery. Instagram introduced "Your Algorithm" in June 2026, extending customization options across Feed and Explore after first launching the feature for Reels in December 2025. Threads has also rolled out a related feature called "Dear Algo."
