OpenAI to Offer AI Models via Google Cloud, Expanding Enterprise Reach
OpenAI has announced that it will open access to its AI models through Google Cloud, making its models available across the platforms of all three major global cloud infrastructure providers. The move is part of OpenAI's push to expand enterprise business and reduce reliance on Microsoft.
Less than six months ago, Microsoft no longer held exclusive licensing rights to OpenAI's intellectual property, and Amazon soon announced plans to host OpenAI models. Now Google Cloud has become the third cloud platform to distribute OpenAI's models. According to OpenAI, its GPT-series products will be available on Google Cloud's Model Garden and Anti Gravity code development tools in the coming weeks.
OpenAI said in a blog post that Google Cloud has long been a key platform for machine learning and AI workloads, developers and data scientists.
Google's cloud business has grown rapidly in 2026, with second-quarter annualized revenue growth rising to about 82% from 63% in the first quarter, driven by strong demand for AI models and custom chips. Amazon and Microsoft reported second-quarter cloud growth of 37% and 42%, respectively. All three companies are scheduled to report quarterly earnings next week.
OpenAI was founded in 2015 and is currently raising funding at a $1.4 trillion valuation, with plans for an IPO. Google and OpenAI previously collaborated last year, when OpenAI said it would use Google Cloud to run ChatGPT and its API.
