First in History! Apple Watch Launches Siri AI, 11-Year Voice Assistant Undergoes a Complete Evolution
Apple has released the watchOS 27 beta 3 to developers today. This new system introduces Siri AI and a brand-new Siri app for the first time, bringing more intelligent voice interaction directly to the wrist—a significant upgrade for the Apple Watch.
With the arrival of the AI era, the enhanced Siri AI can now understand more complex voice commands and handle sophisticated tasks. When users activate Siri on the watch, the app appears at the center of the screen, ready to answer questions and execute commands.
Hardware Dependency and Experience Synchronization
It’s important to note that the Siri AI on the Apple Watch does not operate entirely independently; it requires an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence to process data. Currently, only a few devices meet this requirement: the iPhone 15 Pro series, iPhone 16 series, and the latest iPhone 17 series.
However, Apple ensures a seamless ecosystem experience. All conversation records in the Siri app on the Apple Watch sync perfectly with the Siri app on other devices under the same account, such as iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Major Model Discontinuation
With the introduction of powerful AI features, watchOS 27 also marks the largest single‑year reduction in compatible models in Apple Watch history. Currently, only newer models support the update: Apple Watch SE 3, Series 9, Series 10, Series 11, as well as Ultra 2 and Ultra 3.
This means many classic older models will be left behind and cannot access the latest system. Devices such as the Apple Watch Series 6, Series 7, Series 8, the original Apple Watch Ultra, and Apple Watch SE 2 are not on the supported list.
