SpaceX CFO: New AI Compute Hosting Deal to Generate ~$13.3B Annualized Revenue
At the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference on Sept. 10, 2026, SpaceX Chief Financial Officer Bret Johnsen said the company signed a new AI compute hosting deal in early September 2026 that will generate about $1.1 billion in monthly revenue starting Dec. 1, 2026, or approximately $13.3 billion annualized. He expressed confidence that SpaceX would reach $100 billion in annualized revenue by the end of 2026, based on the December run rate.
The deal follows a $6.7 billion six-month compute agreement signed in July 2026. SpaceX has also signed multi-year compute agreements with Anthropic, Alphabet, and Reflection AI. Anthropic is paying about $1.25 billion per month until May 2029, while Alphabet's payments are set to begin in October 2026 at about $920 million per month through June 2029. Johnsen noted that most contracts allow either party to terminate after several months, preserving flexibility for SpaceX's own AI compute needs.
Johnsen also said SpaceX plans to launch its first batch of orbital computing satellites in 2027 and scale up around 2028. He believes the economics of orbital compute could cross over with ground data centers as early as 2027 as Starship launch costs decline. On-ground AI compute deployments are expected to exceed 2GW by end-2026 and grow to 5-10GW in 2027. The 14th Starship flight, expected later in September 2026, will be the first revenue-generating mission, carrying production V3 Starlink satellites. Next-generation direct-to-cell satellites are slated for launch in 2027, with service targeted for the first half of 2028.
