Faraday Lands AI Chip Design Win for US Customer, Tapping Samsung 2nm and 3D DRAM
On October 27, Faraday Technology announced during its Q3 2026 earnings call that it had secured a significant design win from a US customer. The company said the project sets new records in design process, complexity, NRE amount, and advanced packaging.
The AI chip, targeting cloud applications, supports FP64 computing and is built on Samsung Foundry's 2nm process. It stacks a logic SoC with custom DRAM vertically using hybrid bonding and supports PCIe Gen6. Faraday noted the customer originally planned a 4nm process but switched to the 2nm solution after weighing performance and power consumption.
In Q3 2026, Faraday reported consolidated revenue of NT$3.66 billion (about RMB 750 million), up 13% year-on-year and 11% quarter-on-quarter, with a gross margin of 42.5% and operating margin of 5.8%.
