Unitree Unveils Upgraded Humanoid Robot G1+ with Enhanced Motors and Perception

By AI123

On September 14, Unitree announced an upgraded version of its humanoid robot G1, named G1+. The new model introduces six improvements across motion performance, perception and interaction, and intelligent experience. The standard version is priced at RMB 95,000 (including tax), while the price of the G1+ EDU, aimed at research and deep development, has not yet been disclosed.

For motion, the G1+ adds a 2-DOF neck structure with a pitch range of approximately -25° to 36° and yaw of up to ±110°. The motor system has also been upgraded: shoulder and waist motors now deliver 110% higher peak torque with 72% less heat generation at the same torque level; arm motors achieve 43% higher peak torque with 30% less heat; and thigh motor heat generation is reduced by 28%. The robot retains low-inertia high-speed inner-rotor permanent magnet synchronous motors, paired with localized air cooling, industrial-grade crossed roller bearing output shafts, and dual encoders.

For perception, the G1+ features a dual vision system combining a binocular camera and a wide-angle monocular camera, along with a 3D LiDAR and an abdominal wide-angle camera, improving depth perception, field of view, and spatial understanding. Interaction upgrades include five high-sensitivity touch points on the head and a 6-microphone array for far-field voice pickup, supporting sound source localization, noise reduction, and echo cancellation. An external wireless microphone can be connected, and dual 10W speakers are mounted at the waist.

For long-duration operation, the G1+ adds an external power input (DC 54.6V, 5.7A) on the back. It continues to use a 13-series lithium battery and a 9000mAh quick-swap smart battery, with a standard 54V/5A charger and a rated battery life of about two hours. The robot retains OTA updates, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and an 8-core high-performance CPU.

The standard G1+ has 25 joint motor DOF and weighs about 35kg. The G1+ EDU extends the configuration to 25+45 DOF, supports multiple high-compute modules from different brands, and offers an extended 18-month warranty.
