Apple Launches AI Security Camera Features for HomeKit Secure Video
Apple has officially launched its Siri AI upgrade, bringing AI-powered security camera features to HomeKit Secure Video-compatible devices such as the Aqara Camera Hub G350 and Doorbell Camera G400. The new capabilities include natural language search of recorded footage and descriptive notification summaries, available through a “Summarize Videos” toggle in the Home app's Apple Intelligence settings.
Once enabled, users receive more specific alerts when cameras detect activity, such as “A cat walked by and walked through the yard. Birds walked around the yard. Chickens walked around the yard.” They can also search clips using natural language, for example to find out whether a package was delivered.
The features are opt-in and Apple is not raising prices on existing iCloud+ subscriptions. However, accessing the AI camera features requires at least the $10-per-month 2TB iCloud+ plan, which covers only one camera. The $30-per-month 6TB plan covers two cameras, and the $60-per-month 12TB plan supports up to five cameras. By comparison, Google's Home Premium Advanced plan costs $20 per month with no camera limit.
Apple notes in a support page that supported camera counts and other iCloud+ plan features may change over time. iOS 27 and related operating systems are now available, and users can update to experience the new features.
