Honor and Alibaba build agentic OS and vertical models as Magic9 launch nears

By AI123

On Sept 22, Fang Fei, Honor's product line president, outlined the company's next-phase vision for AI terminals at the main forum of Alibaba Cloud's Apsara Conference. He said terminal devices in the next decade will no longer be mere containers for apps but a stage for agents. Honor is evolving MagicOS into Agentic OS, a partner-style multimodal agent operating system, with a full restructuring of six technology layers spanning hardware, system and ecosystem.

Honor also announced deep co-creation with Alibaba, jointly building five vertical-domain models and solutions for next-generation AI phones based on MagicOS and Qwen Intelligence. Alibaba contributes foundation model capabilities, while Honor brings system capabilities and real-world end-user scenarios, establishing a device-cloud collaboration model. To help agents move from “understanding” to “stable execution,” Honor built what it calls the industry's first system-level Agent Harness architecture, deployed in MagicOS 11, which organizes models together with perception, planning, tool calling and execution.

With the new models and solutions, the latest YOYO assistant reports an overall task accuracy of 91.8%, an end-to-end task completion rate of 90%, an average automated execution time of 3.6 seconds, and support for more than 100 operation steps. Fang said scenario-specific and vertical-domain development is a core direction for agents, with coding and office agents already becoming the first two major scenarios to scale.

The Magic9 series, equipped with the co-developed super agent models and solutions, is scheduled for official release on Sept 28. Honor said it will continue to work with ecosystem partners to build an agent ecosystem for terminals.
