Bessemer Raises $5.75B Across Two Funds to Back AI Startups
Bessemer Venture Partners announced on September 23 that it has raised $5.75 billion across two new funds to accelerate its investments across the AI stack. The firm allocated $1.75 billion for seed and early-stage investing and $4 billion for growth-stage startups.
Bessemer, known for backing enterprise winners during the SaaS era such as Box, Docusign, and Gainsight, has also invested in companies including Anthropic, Cognition, Legora, Perplexity, Ramp, Shopify, and Waymo. Since 2022, it has backed more than 260 AI-native companies and invested $3 billion in AI-related startups across compute, infrastructure, foundation models, developer tools, application-layer startups, and agentic technology.
Partner Byron Deeter said in the announcement that AI-native companies are scaling faster than any technology category the firm has previously backed. He told Bloomberg that venture firms need to keep increasing their capital because companies staying private longer has become a permanent structural shift.
