Meta brings New York Times Cooking to its AI glasses with hands-free recipe guidance
At the Connect developer conference on September 25, 2026, Meta showed a new integration with the New York Times Cooking app during its developer keynote, aiming to bring the app's recipes to its display-equipped glasses and non-display AI glasses.
The feature is not available yet. The New York Times Cooking app will gain a "hands-free mode" that lets users pair their glasses to the app and receive audio cues for the dish they are cooking. For Meta's Ray-Ban Display glasses, recipe steps will also appear as brief cards that users can swipe through as they cook.
A.J. Chavar of The New York Times explained that the team worked with cooking editors to build a system that restructures lengthy steps into brief audio instructions, preserving the author's expertise while supplying ingredients and measurements in line. The display version keeps steps concise and presents them on swipeable cards.
Chavar did not specify exactly when the app would arrive on Meta's glasses, but said the hands-free mode would roll out later in fall 2026.
