Chinese Open-Source Models Enter OpenAI Enterprise Marketplace via Baseten
Baseten, a U.S.-based AI infrastructure company, announced on September 30 that it has partnered with OpenAI to become one of the first open-source model inference providers in OpenAI's B2B marketplace. Enterprise users can now access models such as Kimi K3 and GLM 5.3 through Codex or the Responses API, marking the first time Chinese open-source models have entered OpenAI's enterprise procurement system.
Kimi K3, developed by Moonshot AI, is described as an open-source model with 2.8 trillion parameters. It natively supports vision capabilities and offers a 1 million-token context window, making it suitable for long-horizon coding and multi-document analysis tasks. Baseten said all models run on U.S.-based servers and that zero data retention is applied to all prompts.
