JPMorgan CEO Warns Anthropic's Mythos AI Model Could Increase Global Cyber Threats Tenfold
JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon warned in a recent interview that Anthropic's Mythos AI model could increase global cybersecurity risks by roughly tenfold. He said that as AI agents and related technologies advance rapidly, companies are facing new security vulnerabilities that did not exist before, and the threat is not theoretical but real.
Dimon noted that cybersecurity had long been a major risk for businesses even before the rapid development of generative AI, and that AI has created vulnerabilities that were previously unknown. He emphasized that technologies like Mythos could be used to cause disruption, making the security concerns a tangible risk that requires close attention.
Despite his warnings, JPMorgan remains one of the most aggressive adopters of AI in the banking industry. According to the 2026 Evident AI Index, JPMorgan was named the world's most advanced bank in AI adoption for the fifth consecutive year, followed by Capital One and RBC.
On data centers, Dimon said they should be built in areas where they can gain support from local communities. He pointed out that several U.S. states have ample power supplies and are willing to host such projects. As AI training and inference demand grows rapidly, electricity supply and community acceptance have become key factors in industry expansion.
Separately, Anthropic is accelerating its IPO plans. Reports suggest the company could launch its IPO as early as mid-November 2026, aiming to list before Thanksgiving on November 26, with a listing possibly completed by the end of the year. Market reports have valued Anthropic at a potential $1.8 trillion to $2 trillion, though the final valuation and offering size have not been set. The company also plans to meet with potential investors on October 14 to prepare for the IPO.
