Nicolas Cage Refuses AI Acting Waiver, Says He May Not Work With Amazon Again

By AI123

Nicolas Cage said at a panel during New York Comic Con 2026 that he refused to sign a waiver allowing the use of AI in the Amazon Prime Video series "Spider-Noir," adding that he likely will not work with the studio again.

Cage described Amazon as a company that strongly supports AI, citing its reported investment of up to $50 billion in OpenAI. "I'm not one of those actors who are AI-friendly," he said. "I'm not part of their club. I didn't sign the waiver for AI to be used in Spider-Noir. I probably won't work with that studio again, but that's okay."

The actor has previously spoken out against AI-driven performance. In early 2025, he said he firmly believed in "not letting robots dream for us." At the panel, he argued that robots cannot reflect the human condition, and that allowing an AI robot to control even a small part of a performance would lead to a dead end, replacing integrity, purity and artistic truth with economic gain.

Cage stars in "Spider-Noir," which premiered in May 2026 with eight episodes. According to Deadline, the series has not been renewed for a second season.
