151 Apps, Including WeChat and DeepSeek, Refuse Doubao Phone Assistant's GUI Automation
On October 14, Doubao Phone Assistant outlined the next steps after the 30-day public comment period for its Screen Automation Operation Statement Agreement (SAEP). The company said it will gradually enable GUI automation for third-party apps, but only for those that have not opted out. Developers can still file a refusal after the comment period, and Doubao will not perform automation on apps that are refused.
The assistant also published a list of 151 apps that have declined to cooperate, including WeChat, DeepSeek, Taobao, Kuaishou and Meituan. By ecosystem, Tencent and related apps account for 65 titles, covering social, gaming and office products; Alibaba and related apps account for 23; Kuaishou and related apps 14; Meituan and related apps 11; and the remaining 38 are independent apps spanning AI tools, life services, finance, and navigation.
The refusal does not mean these apps cannot be installed or used on devices such as the Nubia M153 and Nubia NaviX Ultra, which come with Doubao Phone Assistant. Users can still open them manually. What the developers are blocking is the assistant's GUI automation capability, which relies on recognizing on-screen elements and simulating taps and swipes to complete cross-app tasks; without consent, such operations must be done manually by the user.
