AssemblyAI's Universal-3.6 Pro speech-to-text model launches on OpenRouter

On October 15, 2026, AssemblyAI announced that its new Universal-3.6 Pro speech-to-text model is now available on OpenRouter via the Sync API.

Compared with the previous Universal-3.5 Pro, the new model reduces errors on short conversational utterances by 30% and cuts average errors across supported languages by 12%. It also improves recognition and formatting of phone numbers, addresses, emails, and code.

The update adds 14 new languages, including Korean, Catalan, Galician, Russian, Romanian, Estonian, Persian, Afrikaans, Marathi, Cantonese, Zulu, Urdu, Xhosa, and Norwegian Nynorsk.

Universal-3.6 Pro is priced at $0.30 per hour of audio.
