Amazon unveils Echo Time smart alarm clock and other Alexa-powered devices
On October 28, 2026, Amazon announced several new Echo devices, including the Echo Time smart alarm clock, the Alexa Smart Frame, an upgraded Echo Dot, the Echo Show 16, and a new Echo Studio with a built-in camera.
The Echo Time is designed for the bedroom. It features a 2.3-inch circular touchscreen that can dim to under 0.3 nits to avoid disturbing sleep. An ultrasonic transducer detects when the user is asleep, and the clock can wake them during a lighter sleep phase, between 10 and 60 minutes before their desired wake-up time, using light and selectable alarm tones. The device has no camera and comes with built-in Alexa+.
Amazon also introduced the Alexa Smart Frame, a 10-inch smart photo frame integrated with Amazon Photos and Alexa+. Users can ask Alexa to select photos of specific people and send them to the frame, and add voice notes to images.
The refreshed Echo Dot includes an upgraded speaker, an additional beamform microphone, and a new AZ3 chip that Amazon says enables faster and more natural conversations with Alexa+. It can also serve as a smart home hub supporting Zigbee, Thread, and Matter.
In addition, Amazon unveiled a redesigned Echo Show 16 with a thinner profile and an optional Nanomatte display, along with an Echo Studio with camera that supports face recognition and Advanced Room Adaptation audio tuning. The new devices are available for order starting October 28, with the Echo Show 16 expected to ship by the end of 2026.
