Gudea pitches AI social media crisis early-warning tool at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026

Gudea, a startup that describes itself as a “storm tracker for the internet,” presented its AI-driven social media risk detection platform on the Startup Battlefield stage at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 on October 14, 2026.

The company’s AI analyzes how information and behavior spread across more than 500 mainstream and fringe platforms, including X, Reddit, and TikTok, to help organizations spot potential reputational threats before they escalate into public crises. Unlike conventional social listening tools that only count mentions, hashtags, and impressions, Gudea aims to show who is driving a conversation, how quickly it is gaining traction, and where it could be headed, providing the context decision-makers need, according to CEO and founder Keith Presley.

Presley criticized legacy monitoring tools for lacking situational context, saying they were designed to report numbers rather than insights. Gudea was founded in 2023 by Presley, Jonathan Sperber, and James Thomin, with roots in the George Washington Initiative, a nonprofit that adapted intelligence community tactics to counter domestic information campaigns.

The startup says it has nearly 40 clients, including Fortune 50 telecommunications and retail companies, one of the world’s largest AI labs, public relations and crisis communications firms, and government agencies. Presley noted that generative AI has lowered the barrier for coordinated online activity, and inauthentic activity is now found in about nine out of ten cases the company examines.

Gudea plans to launch narrative geolocation in 2027, allowing customers to pinpoint conversations down to the city-block level. The company is also exploring tools that would let customers run advertising campaigns through its AI model before launch. In early October 2026, Gudea announced a $7 million seed round co-led by Mudita Venture Partners and Silicon Road Ventures, bringing total funding to approximately $15 million.
