Apple Confirms Original HomePod mini Won't Support Siri AI Due to Hardware Limits
By AI123
Apple has confirmed that the first-generation HomePod mini will not support Siri AI, citing hardware constraints. According to a statement obtained by CNET and reported on October 14, the speaker's chip and memory configuration cannot meet the computing requirements for running on-device large language models.
Apple said Siri AI is currently available on the HomePod mini 2 and Apple TV 4K (second generation and later). The original HomePod mini remains usable as a Bluetooth speaker and basic smart home hub, but users who want the new context-aware Siri experience may need to upgrade to a newer device with higher computing power.
