Meta Releases Open-Weight Model Muse Spark Open for Coding and Agent Development

Meta Platforms announced on Oct 16, 2026 the release of Muse Spark Open, an open-weight model that lets developers run and adapt its parameters. Designed for coding and AI agent support, the model is less capable than Muse Wonder, which Meta unveiled earlier this week.

The release of a less advanced open-weight model follows Meta's commitment to making its technology broadly available. Meta's chief AI officer, Alexandr Wang, said the company typically does not open-source its most powerful models for safety and capability reasons, but believes it remains important to keep releasing strong models over time and intends to continue doing so.
