Oracle and AstraZeneca Team Up to Apply AI to Clinical Trial Patient Identification

By AI123

On October 20, Oracle and AstraZeneca announced a non-binding agreement to explore the use of artificial intelligence and real-world data to identify patients eligible for clinical trials, accelerate medical evidence generation, and integrate research findings into routine clinical practice.

Under the agreement, the two companies will combine AstraZeneca's scientific and therapeutic expertise with Oracle's data, cloud computing, AI, and clinical workflow technologies. Initial applications are being considered in areas such as oncology, cardiovascular, renal and metabolic diseases, respiratory and immunology, and rare diseases.

The parties also plan to establish joint governance mechanisms and outcome evaluation metrics to assess whether the approaches can be extended to more disease areas. The agreement is non-binding, and further details of the collaboration are yet to be determined. Oracle provides cloud and enterprise software services, while AstraZeneca is a multinational pharmaceutical company.
