On September 23, the autonomous mobile robot project of the 48th WorldSkills Competition opened at the Shanghai National Exhibition and Convention Center, with competitors from 18 countries and regions. The four-day contest covers robot assembly on the first day, followed by modules including prototype design, navigation and positioning, and visual recognition. This edition debuts rotation in units of four teams, removes fixed scene themes, and draws chassis types on site, making it significantly harder than previous editions.
During the 48th WorldSkills Competition, the president of WorldSkills International said AI plays an intermediate execution role in industry, while humans remain the core of innovation, decision-making and implementation, making human core skills and cultural literacy irreplaceable. This year's event added seven new competition areas, traditional categories like head chef now include digital management and intelligent equipment operation, and China's 220-member delegation competed in all 64 skills with an average age of 21.
