AeiROBOT

EDIE is AeiROBOT's emotional companion robot, measuring 268 x 268 x 215 mm with 4 degrees of freedom; a rounded form and a 5-inch circular LCD display present vivid expressions. Computing is handled by an RK3588 with a VORA 2803 AI processor, plus FSR, laser sensors, a tracking camera and UWB. According to the official site, it evolves continuously through reinforcement learning during long-term interaction, adapting to user traits and daily routines; it recognises facial expressions, emotions and gestures and responds accordingly, and can call for outside help when it senses the user is in danger. Working with the cognitive neuroscience team at Catholic University of Korea, it provides objective evidence for the effectiveness of affective interaction using fMRI.
