An open-source deep-learning platform rooted in industrial practice, offering full-stack AI development with unified dynamic/static graphs and integrated training-inference.
PaddlePaddle is an open-source deep-learning platform initiated by Baidu and rooted in industrial practice, offering a complete stack from core framework and model toolchain to multi-hardware adaptation. With the core design of "unified dynamic/static graphs and automatic parallelism," developers add a few tensor-splitting annotations on single-GPU code and automatically get the most efficient distributed strategy, greatly lowering large-model development and training costs so they can focus on model and algorithm innovation.
PaddlePaddle 3.0 uses an integrated training-inference architecture: one framework supports both, achieving code reuse and seamless handoff for a unified large-model experience and extreme training efficiency. Its built-in neural-network compiler, designed as one with the framework, supports efficient training and variable-shape inference for generative and scientific-computing models, balancing flexibility and high performance while lowering optimization cost. It also offers high-order autodiff, complex arithmetic, Fourier transforms, compilation optimization, and distributed training for math, mechanics, materials, weather, and biology.
In hardware, PaddlePaddle has a mature multi-hardware adaptation scheme that abstracts chip software stacks through standard interfaces into a pluggable architecture; it has supported hardware vendors merging 4001 PRs (26584 commits) covering NVIDIA, Kunlunxin, Hygon, Cambricon, Ascend, Enflame, Taichu, Moore Threads, Iluvatar, and more. Its industrial-grade open model library has 600+ algorithms, including PaddleNLP, PaddleOCR, PaddleSpeech, PaddleDetection, PaddleSeg, and PaddleX, paired with FastDeploy, ERNIEKit, and PaddleFormers for edge-device-cloud, multi-OS inference deployment.
PaddlePaddle also offers the PaddleXinghe community with online coding, datasets, free GPU compute, tutorials, and competitions for developers at all levels. It is widely used in manufacturing, smart energy, urban governance, research, finance, healthcare, and education, serving as a solid foundation for industry-academia-research innovation in the large-model era.
