Superhuman acquires meeting notetaker Fathom to expand AI productivity suite
Superhuman, the AI-powered productivity platform, has acquired Fathom, a Y Combinator-backed meeting notetaker, and plans to integrate its product into its platform.
Founded in 2020, Fathom has raised more than $30 million to date and was valued at $94 million in 2024, according to PitchBook data. Its investors include Zoom Apps Fund, Telescope Partners, BoxOne Ventures and Maven Ventures. The company offers a generous free plan and has amassed over 400,000 monthly active users, with more than 1 million people having recorded meetings so far.
Earlier in 2026, Superhuman tested an internal notetaker with select users but ultimately decided to acquire a finished product instead. CEO Shishir Mehrotra said the testing process made clear how difficult it is to build a quality meeting notetaker, given the depth required across the category. He added that some technical details built by the Fathom team impressed him, and teased that the notetaker could help Superhuman surface meeting context in real time.
Superhuman's platform already includes an email client, docs app, calendar, database solution and a newly launched AI agent builder. With a meeting notetaker in the mix, Superhuman can draft emails, update data entries, schedule follow-up meetings and have AI agents extract insights from meeting data.
Fathom CEO Richard White said Superhuman's roughly 40 million users present a significant distribution opportunity for Fathom. The meeting notetaker space remains highly competitive, with startups such as Granola, Read AI and Wispr having raised millions of dollars.
