King Charles III to Host AI Governance Summit in Scotland with Tech Leaders
King Charles III is set to host an AI governance summit during the week of September 15, 2026, in Dumfries, Scotland, bringing together senior executives from major technology companies to discuss the development of artificial intelligence, according to multiple media reports.
Attendees include NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, Google DeepMind Chairman Demis Hassabis, OpenAI Chief Financial Officer Sarah Friar, and executives from Anthropic and IonQ. The UK's AI minister and an AI adviser to the Vatican are also expected to participate.
The King plans to raise two questions at the summit: "How should we develop AI for the benefit of humanity?" and "Would setting a set of guidelines help?"
Through open dialogue, the King hopes to foster a broader recognition of the responsibilities and opportunities in developing AI technology, ensuring that technological progress remains centered on benefiting human society.
