NXP Semiconductors announced the official establishment of its China Robotics Innovation Center on September 17, a key component of the company's global robotics strategy. The center will focus on advancing robot system innovation and the large-scale deployment of trusted Physical AI, while supporting local customers and strengthening collaboration with ecosystem partners.

As artificial intelligence moves into the physical world, robots have become one of the most representative applications of Physical AI. China plays an important role in global robotics innovation, with rapid technological evolution and strong scenario deployment capabilities in areas such as humanoid robots and industrial robots. NXP has identified robotics as a major growth area and is increasing its investment in the sector, leveraging its long-standing expertise in sensing, edge intelligence, security and functional safety, and connectivity solutions.

The China Robotics Innovation Center will prioritize support for local customers in developing robot systems and solutions, offering one-stop technical assistance spanning hardware, software, and system architecture to accelerate the path from concept validation to deployment. It will also work more closely with upstream and downstream industry partners, software ecosystem partners, and research institutions to build real-world solutions and industry benchmark cases, as well as participate in robotics industry technical exchanges and standard-setting efforts.

Jerome Legros, vice president and general manager of NXP's robotics business, said the robotics industry is moving toward system-level innovation, which demands deep synergy among chips, software, and system architecture. He said the center aims to focus on rapidly evolving robotics applications and ecosystem innovation, leveraging China's innovation speed and industrial vitality to accelerate solution development and Physical AI adoption.
