China-ASEAN AI Ministerial Roundtable Releases Ethics and Safety Cooperation Initiative

The 2026 China-ASEAN AI Ministerial Roundtable was held in Nanning, Guangxi, on September 17. Delegates from AI-related agencies in China and 11 ASEAN member states, ASEAN envoys to China, and representatives of key AI enterprises, research institutions and financial institutions attended the meeting.

During the roundtable discussions, participants focused on AI safety ethics and data and security cooperation, conducting in-depth dialogues on AI development, governance, application and industrial cooperation.

The meeting released a number of cooperation outcomes, including an AI ethics and safety cooperation initiative for ASEAN, several AI security technology products and industry solutions, case collections, and cooperation results covering talent, industry, education and traditional Chinese medicine.
