China's First AI-Assisted Innovative Drug Aipusiwei Wins Market Approval
According to a September 18 report by Caiwen, Aipusiwei, China's first AI-assisted innovative drug, has been approved for market. The drug took only three and a half years from initial discovery to the completion of clinical trials, with AI shortening the drug discovery cycle by about 60% and cutting costs by 80% to 90%.
The approval marks a breakthrough in the commercial application of AI in drug development and was the core catalyst behind the rise of the biotech sector. As of 13:21 on September 18, the Biotech ETF (516500) was up 1.11%, with components such as MGI Tech, BGI Genomics and NanoMicro Tech rising more than 5%.
Bohai Securities said the sector's performance was mainly driven by AI pharmaceutical-related stocks. The brokerage holds a long-term positive view on domestic innovative drugs and recommends attention to innovative drugs, CXO, upstream life science chains, and emerging technologies such as AI applications and surgical robots.
