Lightelligence Shows Second-Gen Optoelectronic Hybrid Board With Nearly Three-Orders Performance Edge

By AI123

During an interview with Yicai on Sept 18, Lightelligence CFO Zhang Hong showcased the company's second-generation optoelectronic hybrid computing board. The board follows a silicon photonics approach, using lasers for high-performance computing, and related research results have been published in Nature.

Tests indicate the board's performance advantage is nearly three orders of magnitude, while power consumption and heat generation are lower than those of electrical computing cards. Silicon photonics is a chip technology route that uses photons for information processing and transmission.

Lightelligence was founded in 2017 and has remained rooted in Pudong, Shanghai. It listed in Hong Kong in April 2026 and has been called the world's first listed silicon photonic AI chip company.
