Claude Code Now Supports AGENTS.md When CLAUDE.md Is Missing

Anthropic has announced that Claude Code, its AI coding tool, now supports AGENTS.md files starting with version 2.1.277. According to the company, if a folder does not contain a CLAUDE.md file, Claude will automatically check for and use an AGENTS.md file instead. Users can toggle this behavior in the /config settings to control the configuration file priority.
