Acer Chairman Says AI Development Unlikely to Slow; Governance Key
By AI123
Acer Chairman Chen Chun-sheng said on Sept. 19 that a slowdown in AI development is unlikely, as technology will only advance faster, responding to recent calls from executives at Anthropic, OpenAI and Tesla to pause the development of the most advanced AI.
In an interview with Taiwan's Economic Daily News, Chen said technology has its own pace and will only speed up, so the focus should be on effective governance and regulation during the process. Acer founder Stan Shih also said technological progress cannot be stopped easily, adding that Taiwan's production capacity is not enough to support a slowdown in AI development.
