Musk on Trump’s AI Renaming Poll: ‘It Will Be Too Smart for Us to Understand’

By AI123

Early on September 20, U.S. President Donald Trump posted a long message on X and launched a poll, arguing that the term “Artificial Intelligence” is neither accurate nor elegant. He suggested alternatives including “Superior Intelligence,” “Extreme Intelligence,” and “Supreme Intelligence,” and asked users to vote on the best name for what he called a growing “revolution.”

Hours later, Elon Musk replied to the post: “It will be too smart for us to understand.” Instead of picking one of the proposed names, he offered a comment on the nature of the technology.

Early on September 19, Musk had also predicted that AI would roughly double U.S. GDP growth in 2027 from about 2% to about 4%, or even higher. Public data cited in the report showed U.S. GDP grew about 2.4% year over year in the first half of 2026.
