Xense Robotics Raises Hundreds of Millions to Advance Tactile Embodied AI
On September 20, Xense Robotics announced it has completed two consecutive rounds of strategic financing totaling hundreds of millions of yuan, with participation from Lanchi Ventures, funds under CICC Capital, and Jingya Capital. The proceeds will be used for product upgrades, business expansion, and industrialization, accelerating the iteration and scaled delivery of high-precision visuotactile sensors and advancing R&D of tactile embodied models and tactile world models.
Founded in May 2024 and headquartered in Shanghai, Xense Robotics focuses on multimodal tactile perception technology for fine manipulation in robotics. Founder Ma Daolin is a professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and winner of the ICRA 2021 Best Paper Award, with over a decade of research in tactile perception. The company has built a technology chain spanning visuotactile sensors, data acquisition systems, tactile simulation and datasets, and the X-TouchMind V1 tactile embodied model.
On the hardware side, Xense has developed high-precision three-color visuotactile sensors that output multi-dimensional force, motion, slip, and 3D topography information, achieving mass production at the ten-thousand-unit level. On the data side, it has developed wearable data acquisition devices and a large-scale real tactile interaction dataset. On the model side, it has built a vision-tactile-language-action multimodal model to support perception, decision-making, and action generation.
To date, Xense Robotics has served more than 300 paying customers across robotics, industrial manufacturing, consumer brands, and research institutions. It has also carried out embodied model validation with CATL and is advancing logistics solutions with L'Oréal. In the next phase, the company will focus on contact-intensive tasks such as precision assembly, dexterous manipulation, and tactile inspection, pushing tactile intelligence from technical accumulation into product delivery and industrial application.
