Marvell Debuts Industry-First 2nm Optical Technologies for AI Data Centers at ECOC 2026

Marvell announced on September 20 that it is demonstrating industry-first 2nm optical technologies for AI data center infrastructure at ECOC 2026, the European optical communications conference. The showcase includes 38 advanced technologies.

Among them are the first 2nm 400G/lane optical PAM4, the first 2nm 800G ZR/ZR+ with MACsec live demonstration, the first 2nm 1.6T ZR and coherent lightweight O-band demonstrations, as well as 200G/lane next-generation AI Fabric co-packaged optics (CPO) technology.

Marvell noted that as AI data center architectures scale from 1.6T to 3.2T and beyond, operators need faster, lower-power, and more secure optical interconnect technologies to support AI scaling in vertical, horizontal, and cross-domain directions. Improving energy efficiency while increasing bandwidth density is key to efficiently expanding AI infrastructure.
