UK Parliamentary Committee Invites Meta, Google, OpenAI and Anthropic to AI Safety Hearing

On September 22, the UK Parliament's Business, Innovation, Science and Trade Committee announced it has invited Meta, Google, OpenAI and Anthropic to an AI safety hearing scheduled for October 13.

The committee said it will focus on whether AI companies should be required to conduct pre-release safety testing, whether they should be mandated to report major safety incidents, and how to prevent competition among companies and nations from lowering AI safety standards. The UK government's AI Safety Institute has also been invited to attend.
