Ema raises $77M for AI agents that automate enterprise workflows

By AI123

Ema, an AI agent startup that automates corporate processes across HR, IT and finance, has raised $77 million in a Series B round led by Bengaluru-based venture firm Creaegis, with existing investors Accel, Section 32 and Prosus participating. The company said the round brings its total funding to $140 million and more than quadruples its valuation from its 2024 round. The financing consisted entirely of primary equity, with no debt or secondary transactions.

Founded in 2023 by former Google and Coinbase executive Surojit Chatterjee and ex-Okta executive Souvik Sen, Ema builds "AI employees" — systems that coordinate multiple AI agents to carry out multi-step business processes across a company's existing applications. The startup says its software can draw on more than 150 models, including frontier and open-source models, while Ema focuses on domain knowledge, integrations and orchestration for end-to-end automation.

Ema says it has more than 50 active enterprise deals, over 1 million active enterprise users and has handled more than 5 million actions and queries. Its customers include NTT DATA, Hitachi, ADP, PwC, Google, KPMG, Wipro and Microsoft. Revenue has grown 50-fold over the past two years, with revenue bookings surpassing $150 million, the company said. More than 90% of customers have expanded beyond initial use cases, and net dollar retention is around 180%.

The Mountain View-headquartered company, which has nearly 200 employees and offices in Bengaluru, London and Vancouver, plans to use the new capital to expand go-to-market operations, especially sales and marketing. After focusing mainly on the U.S. and Europe, it expects to enter new markets in Asia-Pacific, South America and parts of the Middle East over the next year.
