Geely unveils AI-powered charging technology with 2.2MW peak output
Geely Auto Group CEO Gan Jiayue said in a recent interview that charging safety comes first and the company refuses to adopt rushed technology. He also detailed Geely's latest progress in AI-powered charging and its charging network expansion.
Geely recently launched its new AI charging solution, Geely Smart Charge, powered by the Xingrui PowerMind energy brain, achieving a peak output of 2.2 MW per charging gun. The company also introduced the new Shield Golden Brick battery ultra-short-blade series, which uses PowerMind to predict battery temperature changes 30 seconds in advance and dynamically adjust power to keep average temperature below 55°C and peak temperature below 65°C.
Geely also unveiled two automatic charging robots, expected to go live in the fourth quarter of 2026. Gan said these robots can help address the pain point of users forgetting to charge.
Regarding batteries, Geely is pursuing a dual-track model of in-house development and external cooperation. In the first eight months of 2026, Geely shipped 1.1 million self-developed battery packs, while also cooperating with suppliers such as CATL, including through a joint venture.
For its charging network, Geely plans to build over 22,000 charging stations and 100,000 charging guns by the end of 2027, including more than 15,000 Geely Smart Charge stations, aiming to achieve county-level coverage nationwide. Gan said future stations will be deployed based on big data and large models, matching vehicle locations with station placement, and expressed hope that the network can be opened to the entire industry.
