Samsung Electro-Mechanics Lands $210M Order for AI Server MLCCs and Inductors
On Sept 29, Samsung Electro-Mechanics disclosed that it had signed a supply contract worth more than 285 billion KRW (approximately $210 million) with a global major company to provide MLCCs and inductors for AI servers. This is the company's second large order in September, following a 1.07 trillion KRW MLCC supply contract signed on Sept 1 with a global client, also for AI servers, with deliveries covering the full year of 2027.
The frequent large orders reflect strong demand for high-end MLCCs from AI servers and automotive electronics. Industry data shows that from the second half of 2025 to February 2026, global passive components experienced multiple rounds of price increases across regions, with prices generally rising 5% to 30% and higher increases for high-end products. A new round of price hikes began in April 2026, with manufacturers prioritizing AI and automotive-grade clients. Analysts at China Merchants Securities said the current upcycle started in late 2025, driven by surging AI server demand and increased MLCC usage in new energy vehicles. Galaxy Securities also included the MLCC industry in its October 2026 portfolio strategy, focusing on AI computing and domestic substitution trends.
