Tesla Signs $30 Billion Credit Agreement to Fund AI Infrastructure and Solar Expansion

By AI123

Tesla has signed a $30 billion credit agreement, according to a regulatory filing cited by Reuters. The facility comprises a $20 billion delayed-draw term loan, an $8 billion five-year revolving credit line, and a $2 billion 364-day revolving credit facility. The company also replaced a previous $5 billion revolving credit line that was set to mature in January 2028 and had no outstanding borrowings at termination.

Tesla said the funds will be largely used for AI compute infrastructure, solar cell manufacturing capacity, and semiconductor production projects developed with SpaceX, as well as other business expansion efforts. As of September 29, the company had not drawn any amounts under the new facilities and currently has no plans to use them in 2026.

Earlier in 2026, Tesla forecast capital expenditures exceeding $25 billion for the year, compared with $8.53 billion in 2025. LSEG data shows analysts expect negative free cash flow of about $9.78 billion. CEO Elon Musk said at an event in Washington that SpaceX and Tesla are working together toward a target of 200 gigawatts of annual solar capacity.
