LG showcases smart home AI voice assistant with Microsoft Voice Live
On September 30, LG Electronics demonstrated a smart-home AI voice assistant co-developed with Microsoft at a Microsoft industry summit held in Gangnam, Seoul. The assistant is designed for the smart home hub ThinQ ON and is said to offer near-human conversational experiences.
The voice assistant is based on speech-to-speech agent technology and integrates Microsoft Voice Live. It supports barge-in: while listening to the assistant's response, users can ask a new question, and the system will immediately interrupt the original reply to understand the new intent and switch the conversation.
LG plans to release ThinQ ON with Voice Live in 2026 and update the feature for existing ThinQ ON users. The application is not limited to homes and can be extended to B2B spaces such as hotels, offices, and retail outlets.
