Airbnb rolls out AI-powered search in fall product update
Airbnb has introduced an AI-powered search feature as part of its fall 2026 product update, allowing users to find properties through text or voice prompts. When the feature is enabled, the interface displays dynamic filters based on user preferences—for example, typing "baby" surfaces additional filters such as cribs, playgrounds, and children's books and toys.
The company is also using AI to highlight relevant property features and generate AI-powered summaries and review comparisons, letting users compare properties on their wish list. CEO Brian Chesky said this marks Airbnb's first foray into AI search, describing the current offering as "just the very beginning" and noting that the company will iterate quickly in the coming months. He added that creating AI search that does not hurt conversion rate is the hard part for a platform with $100 billion flowing through it.
Beyond AI search, Airbnb expanded services including meal delivery, laundry, baby-gear rental, and ski and boat rental in limited locations. It also strengthened social features: travelers can now view a map based on their connections' past or upcoming trips, with an option to keep trips private. The company is additionally building neighborhood pages based on guest reviews and other sources to help travelers discover local dining and activities.
