DeepSeek Harness v0.2.1-alpha.1 Adds Experimental Claude Code Mods Compatibility Layer

By AI123

On October 3, DeepSeek Harness released version v0.2.1-alpha.1, adding an experimental Claude Code Mods compatibility layer. The layer allows extensions written against the Claude Code Mods interface to run within the DSH plugin system. The official documentation lists three bridge examples: Token Weather, Blast Radius, and Replay Theater, which respectively display context usage, show the impact of high-risk commands before execution, and provide a step-by-step review of file modifications.

The update also introduces a new “let the Agent create plugins” entry point, letting users describe a feature and have the agent write and save the plugin on the spot. A companion developer toolkit helps inspect session logs and debug issues. The release note is credited to Cui Tianyi, head of the DeepSeek Harness team.

The move follows Claude Code’s recent introduction of Mods, which use JavaScript or TypeScript event handlers to let users customize the AI coding tool’s interface and behavior. DeepSeek said the compatibility layer is currently intended to verify that the Claude Code Mods API capabilities largely form a subset of DSH’s plugin capabilities. DSH’s plugin architecture is built on the principle of “Everything is a Plugin,” covering models, tools, skills, sessions, sandboxes, task orchestration, and more.

The compatibility layer remains in an early validation stage. Some built-in Claude Code Mods such as diff, agents-md, sec-default, and telemetry are still marked as non-functional, as dependent events, interfaces, or UI capabilities are not yet fully wired up, and loading methods still need adaptation to DSH mechanisms.
