Former Anthropic Researcher Jacob Coxon to Testify at New York City AI Hearing

Jacob Coxon, a former researcher at Anthropic, is expected to testify at a New York City hearing on artificial intelligence, according to people familiar with the matter cited by Bloomberg News.

Coxon’s appearance was requested by New York City Council Speaker Julie Menin, who has urged AI whistleblowers to come forward as council members consider a package of bills aimed at establishing safeguards for the technology.

Coxon left Anthropic in September 2026. He has publicly warned that people seriously working on AI believe the technology could wipe out humanity by the end of this decade, and accused his former employer and OpenAI of “risking our lives.”
