SpaceX Seeks $40 Billion Apollo-Led Financing for Nvidia Chips

By AI123

SpaceX, the aerospace and AI company founded by Elon Musk, is seeking to raise $40 billion through a financing plan led by Apollo Global Management to purchase Nvidia chips, according to people familiar with the matter. The deal is expected to close in 2027.

The financing package includes roughly $10 billion in bank loans and $30 billion in investment-grade bonds. Apollo is expected to lead the transaction and help sell the debt to a broad range of investors. Bond investment group Pimco is among the few lenders in talks to potentially fund the deal.

SpaceX's relationship with Nvidia has deepened as Musk has committed more resources to his AI projects. During an earnings call in August 2026, Musk said SpaceX had decided to build entirely on Nvidia's architecture, calling the Vera Rubin architecture the best AI platform.

The fundraising plan highlights the massive scale of investment flowing into data centers, chips and other AI infrastructure. In June 2026, Apollo led a $35 billion chip financing deal for processors made by Nvidia rival Broadcom. In August 2026, Nvidia announced a $500 billion financing platform with Apollo, BlackRock, Blackstone, Brookfield, Goldman Sachs and KKR to fund purchases of Nvidia chips and broader AI infrastructure construction.
