Xreal has officially launched its Android XR-powered Aura smartglasses and opened pre-orders for customers who placed reservation deposits, with prices starting at $1,279. The device was first introduced at Google I/O earlier this year.

The Aura weighs less than 95 grams and uses a tethered design, connecting to a separate puck that runs Android XR, provides access to Google Play apps, and includes Gemini for AI capabilities. Powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon Reality Elite chip, the glasses offer precise hand tracking via built-in cameras and a 70-degree field of view. The see-through lenses let users see their surroundings while viewing virtual content. Audio is powered by Bose-engineered technology.

The compute puck also includes a trackpad and fingerprint sensor for navigation, and can be worn on a lanyard or clipped to clothing. The glasses can also be plugged into a computer for use as an external monitor. The Aura is available in medium (60-66mm) and large (66-72mm) sizes, with storage configurations of 12GB/256GB and 16GB/512GB. The larger configuration costs $1,499. Shipping will begin soon in the US, Canada, Japan and South Korea, with general orders opening in the coming weeks. Xreal plans to expand to more markets in 2027.
