Former White House AI Advisor Sriram Krishnan Targets $500M Fund

By AI123

According to three people familiar with the matter, Sriram Krishnan, who left the White House in June 2026 after serving as a key AI adviser to former President Trump, is raising an AI-focused venture capital fund with a target of about $500 million. The fund will invest in growth- and late-stage companies, and Krishnan is expected to serve as its sole general partner, one person said.

The fund will focus on U.S. AI companies in national security and cybersecurity, aiming to bolster American technological leadership. Krishnan's policy background is expected to help the fund identify companies with public-private partnership potential, following a model similar to the aerospace industry. The fund is still in its early stages, with no official launch or first close timeline yet, and no specific portfolio companies have been disclosed. It plans to begin investing by the end of 2026.

Krishnan previously worked at Microsoft and Twitter, then joined Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) as a general partner, where he helped establish the firm's London office. During his time in the White House, he worked under David Sacks, the White House's AI and crypto czar, and led the drafting of the American AI Action Plan released in July 2025.

Potential limited partners include university endowments and other institutional investors. While $500 million is a sizable first fund, it will compete with larger funds focused on established companies. It is not yet clear whether Krishnan will invite limited partner co-investment.
